ANSWERS:

1. Students from age 5 through 17 need to bring a parent or legal guardian with them to assist in filling out and signing the registration card. If parents do not have a library card with us, they will need to present a photo ID and proof of current address. This could be a driver's license, checking account, or recent bill. Library cards are issued within a few minutes of application, are free, and are ready to use that day. Applicants do not need to live within our school district in order to get a library card at the Delta Public Library.    back to top

2. New patrons (those who have had their cards less than six months) are limited to four checkouts at any one time. After three months, limitations are placed only on video titles--seven titles per adult borrower (18 years and older) and 2 titles per student (age 5 through 17). DVD's may only be checked out by adult patrons with a limit of three titles due to small collection.

3. Yes, materials can be renewed by phone except for videos which are non-renewable and materials that have a reserve or hold request placed on them. Materials may be renewed only once.    back to top

4. If you lose your library receipt, just call the library at (419) 822-3110, give your name, and ask when your materials are due back to the library. The staff can quickly access your borrowing record on the computer, confirm your return dates, let you know if you owe any fines and/or renew your books if you wish.    back to top

5. Your DPL card can only be used here at Delta Public Library. You are welcome to become cardholders at any of the other five Fulton County libraries if you wish. However, you must apply at those libraries and abide by their rules and policies which may vary from Delta Public Library's rules and policies.    back to top

6. Yes, you must have your own DPL card with you in order to check out materials. This is a library board policy and is for your own protection as well as for the library's. Books will be held for a short period of time in order for you to retrieve your card and still check out the items you want. back to top

7. If your card should be misplaced, lost, or stolen, please report it to the library immediately. Sometimes cards are inadvertently left here or are found and returned here. The cards are kept at the main circulation desk. If misplaced or lost, please report it to the main circulation desk, and they can be replaced in one week's time. We ask that you look for the card within that week's waiting period. Many cards are found and then there is no need to charge you for a new card. Your first library card is issued free; the second card costs $1.00; your third card $2.00 and so on. There is no waiting period for patrons who have never been barcoded, but have lost their library card. There is a charge, though, according to the costs stated above.    back to top

8. Student pages need to be 16 years of age, have a work permit issued from their high school, and be available to work 10 to 15 hours per week, including at least one night a week and some Saturday hours. We need volunteers from time to time for special projects such as Summer Reading programs. If you'd like to volunteer, please talk with one of the library assistants.    back to top

9. There is no charge to use the Ellison die cut machine. We ask that you sign in, read our policy, furnish your own paper materials, and clean up when you are finished. The Sizzix's mini die machine can be checked out for 3 days for home use for a fee of $15.00 payable at time of checkout. There is no charge to use our Internet or Public Access computers. We due however, only allow a one hour time limit when using the computers. Again, we ask that patrons sign up and follow our user policies. If you wish to print off the computers, you must purchase the paper at our desk. The charge is $.25 per sheet for black and white or $.50 per sheet for color printing. The charge helps to defray the cost of the ink cartridges.    back to top
